Rahul Gandhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Centre of "sleeping" as China "prepares for war". Rahul is currently walking across Rajasthan as part of his Bharat Jodo Yatra. He also alleged that China has taken away 2,000 square kilometres of Indian territory, killed 20 Indian soldiers and is "thrashing our jawans in Arunachal Pradesh".

‘China has been preparing’

"From what I can make of, from the current situation, China is not preparing for an incursion but a full-fledged war. The threat is clear but our government is ignoring the threat. The Centre is trying to hide facts from us but it won't be able to hide such things for long," said Rahul Gandhi.

"I warned this government to be careful about China. Look at China's pattern...they have been making preparations on the Ladakh and Arunachal sides but the government of India is sleeping," said the Congress leader.

Chinese attempts thwarted

Rahul Gandhi's statements came following clashes between the Indian and Chinese forces in Yangste area near Tawang sector. According to information, more than 300 Chinese soldiers tried to reach the top of a 17,000-ft peak to uproot an Indian post. However, their attempts were successfully thwarted by the Indian forces, said sources. Both sides immediately disengaged from the area after the clash.

Several ministers have also raised the clashes in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Congress completed 100 days of Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday after covering almost 2,600 km. The yatra kicked off from Kanyakumari on September 7. After Rajasthan, it will enter Haryana on December 21. The yatra will cover about 500km in Rajasthan over 17 days before entering Haryana on December 21.
